Sam is a dedicated professional of outdoor recreation facilities and operations. With over 20 years of experience in the ski industry, he is a leader in his field and has a unique blend of leadership, management, vision and knowledge. Strong leadership is at the core of his work and has helped him build many top-level teams to complete multi year and multi million dollar projects.
Sam has developed many winter and summer ski hill infrastructure projects and ski hill operations. Some projects include 2011 Doppelmayr quad chair installation (Mt. Sima), 2012 Wildplay Monkido and Zipline park (Mt.Sima), 2014 Wildplay Monkido park (Vista Ridge), 2015-2018 terrain park earthworks and remodel (Mt. Sima), 2015-2018 Mountain bike park development (Mt. Sima), 2019-2022 Snowmaking and mountain electrification project (Mt. Sima) and 2021-2027 development plan and Canada Winter Games infrastructure projects (Mt. Sima).
His professionalism and drive is well known throughout the ski industry and has given him a reputation as a leading expert in his field. In 2021 Sam was awarded the Lars Fossberg Award for excellence by the Canada West Ski Areas Association and sits on the CWSAA stewardship and environmental policy panel.
Having grown up in Yukon he is uniquely qualified for northern development, extreme climate projects, sustainable design and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including not for profit organizations, community groups and all levels of government.
