Pierre is the Director, Destination Development for Legacy Tourism Group. He is an accomplished Tourism Destination Development leader with over 40 years of experience in the Public and Private sectors including over 16 years as a senior civil servant with the Yukon Government’s Department of Tourism and Culture as the Director of Tourism.
As Director, Pierre was responsible for all aspects of sustainable destination development and management including branding, marketing, experience and product development, tourism industry sector development, market and consumer research, visitor services and strategic partnerships.
Pierre has successfully led strategic projects regionally, nationally and internationally with various levels of governments, non-government tourism organizations, destination management organizations and the tourism industry. Recent projects include; the COVID-19 Yukon Tourism Relief and Recovery Plan; the Yukon Sustainable Tourism Framework; the Yukon Tourism Development Strategy: Sustainable Tourism. Our Path. Our Future.; The Yukon Tourism Development Strategy Governance Task Force; the Yukon Resident Perception of Tourism Survey Report; the annual plan for the Canadian Council of Tourism Minister’s Director of Tourism Committee; as well as, the Yukon Tourism Brand Strategy and numerous research projects including multiple Yukon Visitor Exit Surveys.
Pierre has held a number of positions on regional, inter-provincial, national and international boards and committees including Destination Canada’s Heads of Tourism and Heads of Marketing committees, the Canadian Council of Tourism Minister’s Director of Tourism Committee, the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s Marketing Committee, Tourism Alliance for Western and Northern Canada tourism committee, Tourism North Cooperative Marketing Program (AK, AB, BC, YT) , the Canada’s North Tourism Marketing Partnership (NT, NU, YT), the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon, the Yukon Convention Bureau, the Wilderness Tourism Association of the Yukon, the Klondike Visitors Association and the Yukon Wildlife Preserve.
Specializing in northern Sustainable Tourism Destination Development, Pierre has been recognized for his contribution to the advancement of tourism in Canada’s North through development of a national marketing initiative for the three northern territories, the northern territories presence at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, and for his decades of involvement as a member of the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s Marketing Committee and the Tourism North Cooperative Marketing Program. Pierre was also a recipient of the Yukon Premiers Award of Excellence for his work in Community Development.
Born and raised in the Yukon, Pierre is a graduate of the University of Victoria and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
