Justin is an accomplished tourism destination and parks, trails and recreation planner with 15 years of professional experience. He has successfully led tourism destination and strategic planning projects for dozens of municipal, regional and provincial governments and provincial and regional destination marketing organizations throughout western Canada.
Justin also led the development of Alberta’s award winning recreation and tourism resource data system. He was a key player in the development of Alberta’s 10 Year Tourism Strategy and led the preparation of “A Call to Action: Recommendations to Accelerate the Recovery, Sustainable Growth & Resilience of Alberta’s Visitor Economy” for the Tourism Industry Association of Alberta and the Tourism Industry Associations Advisory Panel. He holds a Master of Environmental Studies Degree as well as an Undergraduate Honors Degree in Outdoor Recreation Management. Justin specializes in the visitor management of parks, protected areas and tourism destinations.
Justin has worked as the manager of regional planning for Alberta Tourism, Parks, and Recreation, Provincial Outdoor Recreation Specialist for Public Lands and a Conservation Officer with Alberta Parks. In addition to working as a planner in the tourism industry, Justin has also worked on the front lines of the industry as a sea kayak guide and fly-fishing guide in Labrador. He is accredited by the International Association of Public Participation as a public participation professional and has planned and implemented numerous high profile public, Indigenous and stakeholder engagement programs.
